Building The Best Online Presence

Building the best online presence is extremely important for any type of business.  Too many business fall short and miss engagement with their target audience. The major reason is because they do not know how where to build the best online presence.  Knowing and understanding how to get online is an important first step. As a business owner use these tips to build your brand online.

Claim your listings

Claiming Reviews Are Good For A Business

If you have not already, make sure you create listings for your business.  This is an important first step towards online discovery.  Some of the major sites that consumers use to find a local business are Google, Yelp, Yahoo, and Bing.  Once you have your listings created, you need to make sure you claim your listings.  Claiming your listings tells a publisher that you are the true owner of that listing. This allows you to control that specific content.  This also allows you to easily update hours and fill out your information. Search engines also reward claimed listings with a higher search ranking compared to listings that are unclaimed.  If you are not sure of which sites to focus on when you are creating and claiming your business listings, Google and  Yelp are two sites that are heavily used by consumers.

Strive for Consistency

On top of claiming and creating your listings, it is important to stay consistent. One of the major influencers of local SEO is having a consistent Name, Address and Phone number (NAP Data) across your various listings.  A great platform to use that allows a business to not only keep a consistent web presence but also display what a business has to offer is SinglePlatform.

 Go Mobile

Go Mobile

So now that you have began to create your listings and are taking your first step towards discovery, you now need to take some time to critique your own website.  I am sure it is no surprise but consumers are choosing to search from their mobile devices rather than a desk top computer.  Google is actually a publisher who will now rank a business without a mobile website lower in the search ranking.  According to Winkler, it is really important from Google’s standpoint to make the change because it makes the majority of its revenue from search and the majority of search is now shifting to mobile.  So make sure you take the time to create a mobile friendly website so customer can find the content they are looking for.  If you are unsure whether your website is mobile friendly, you can run a quick test here.

So take the steps to gain an online presence but ask yourself, what are you going to do today to help you get discovered online?
