4 Tips for Small Businesses to Increase Brand Engagement on Social Media

As a small business, it can be difficult getting your name out there. However, there are great opportunities to utilize social media to help spread word of your brand. Do you have a small business that you are looking to spread word about? If so, look no further! This blog will offer you tips on how to effectively utilize different social media platforms and help increase engagement from the public with your brand!

Create profiles on various social media platforms.

This tactic will help you create brand awareness. Some great social media platforms that we would recommend include Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. According to Forbes magazine, Facebook successfully hit 2 billion monthly users, which means that there is a wide audience that you can reach through this platform!

Instagram is a great platform for posting visuals such as photos and videos, and also has a widely known reputation at having 800 million users as of September, 2017 according to Wikipedia. For your business, this is a great opportunity to really show the public what your products look like and how they work.

Lastly, Twitter had more than 319 million active users as of 2016, and now as of 2017, tweets that were once limited to 140 characters were doubled according to Wikipedia. This gives businesses more of an opportunity to write more within their Twitter posts to the public!

Harness trends to engage with your audience.

Popular trending hashtags are a great tool for small businesses to take advantage of! Different items, songs, and dances go viral, especially on social media. This is where your business can get in on the action! Pay close attention to what is trending and create content with your brand that can fit with the trends.

Invite your audience to give their input.

When making a decision on a product such as the color, or photo to advertise the product with, some of your best insight can come from your audience! This can also give the public a great opportunity to engage with your brand.

For example, Lay’s Chips created a campaign called “Do Us a Flavor” where they asked the public for insight on what new kind of potato chip they should create, giving the winner a large amount of money as a prize. They received thousands of shares, and ideas, which shows that this type of strategy works! With sharing, retweeting, “liking” or “loving” options through the various social media platforms, it allows the public to have an easy way to share their opinion and engage with your brand.

Create videos to share to social media platforms.

Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat all are social media platforms that allow users to produce “stories” which can be seen for 24 hours. Stories appear at the top of the newsfeed, and anyone who follows your brand will be able to see your short story for 24 hours after you post it. You can even include a link in your story that the user can click on which will then lead them to your website or products. This gives your business a great opportunity to create new content that tells the story of your brand or your product, lets you put a face to the name, and also increases the opportunity for the public to engage with your brand and be brought to your website.

Social media platforms are a key tool for small businesses to both spread word of their brand and get the audience engaged when used effectively.
