Getting your brand out there can be tough as a small business. It’s imperative to use your resources to become known within your industry. You want to appeal to the masses, but don’t forget about your intended mission, vision, and culture. Just within the US, companies spend $7.5 billion on #socialmediamarketing. This isn’t something that many small businesses can budget for. So what do you do when your business doesn’t have the budget for flashy billboards and advertisements?
How to gain exposure on a budget
- Create profiles on multiple social media platforms. This will allow your small business to reach a wide audience range. Some of your target consumers may be on Facebook, while others may be more active on Instagram. You want to appeal to as many people as possible. Keeping your social media pages active with relevant and regular posting is very important!
- Engage with influencers within your industry on social media. Follow them and try to connect on a regular basis, engage and retweet or share their content. This will get your small business noticed by them, and perhaps will allow partnerships to begin.
- Create partnerships with other like-minded companies. Create networking events with other local businesses. It can also be as simple as a local dry cleaner partnering with a local tailor or a suit shop to offer discounts. This will give you the opportunity to get your name out there and attract consumers you may not have reached otherwise.
- Give in to trends. Follow trending hashtags and cash in on them. Make them creative, and get social media users to engage with you. Last year’s tangible trends were things like fidget spinners and pop sockets. Jump on the bandwagon and advertise your brand on things that people want! Make your products relate to your brand, or at least your industry. If it’s not something completely relevant or obvious, get creative!

Their Facebook page is updated often with the number of days left that you can order specialized burgers. This is a great opportunity for them to engage with followers, as they allow their fans to choose the name! With a 4.7 star rating and almost 6,000 likes, they must be doing something right!
