Social media has become a significant part of our everyday lives allowing us to connect with anyone and everyone worldwide in an instant. It is a powerful and essential tool used in society for both users and businesses alike. According to Linda from TSO, “As of July 2020, over 3.8 billion people are using social media.” It has become a huge information source that lets anyone find information.

According to HubSpot, “Promoting and sharing your products on social media is a simple way to improve lead generation, boost conversions, and increase sales because you’re advertising to people who have opted to engage with you by following your account.” Nearly a quarter of the world’s population can be found on different platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Individuals can share information with hundreds, if not thousands, of people within a click of a button.  

 Massive Social Media Obstacles Due to COVID-19

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses faced tremendous obstacles when converting their businesses to digital. Face-to-face meetings turned into video conferences, and live interactions turned into live streams. As the pandemic continues to trail along, customers have grown used to interacting with brands online. As stated by Sprout Social, “More than 500 million users interact with Instagram Stories every day.” It has allowed individuals to get creative, explore, connect, and play games.

Recent trends have allowed companies to engage and interact with users to attract new and retaining customers. Brands quickly buy into the latest trends such as Augmented reality (AR) and Virtual reality (VR) experiences. This allows companies to engage and entertain their customers in a new way that’s never been used before.

You can expect to see more features and tools that enhance user experiences throughout different platforms. Sprout Social explains that “54% of social media users research products using social media. Social media referrals can influence the purchase decisions of 71% of users.” The global pandemic shines a blight on social media. This has allowed people to interact like never before, making audiences more aware than ever. Importantly, brands need to maintain authenticity and be more transparent about products and services. By forecasting the latest trends, businesses can build a more substantial presence for the future.
